Ch Ch Changes...and face the strain..Ch Ch Changes....

Butterflies always symbolize change to me, as do snakes.

When I studied psychology, the first unit we studied described how one can control the major percentage of variables in one’s environment.  We can control the temperature of a room, we can choose to save money and we can choose to eat the right foods and so on.  Quite true to some extent but what about the variables we can’t control?  What about if someone dies or you are retrenched from your job?

Change is one of the only things we can be guaranteed in life.  From the moment we are conceived we begin to change and grow.  I firmly believe that it is the major turning points of change in our life that are the most significant in terms of inner, soul growth.   As painful and devastating major changes can be, we are often never quite the same again.   It is where we truly gain valuable wisdom and in the long term are able to enlighten and support others as well.

Significantly, there is often a’ bigger picture’ to major change that we fail to see in the early event. For example, a woman gets breast cancer, then recovers and goes on in life to support many other women going through the same thing.   A person is retrenched from their job after thirty years of faithful service and is mortified.   However, within twelve months they are in a much better job and happier than they have been for years, perhaps developing skills that were long dormant.  I guess the saying; ‘it will work out for the best’ is often true.

When someone dies that is close to us it can be one of the most significant catalyst for transformation in our lives.  A natural response is to go within on a deep level looking for answers.  The grief can be unbearable and painful yet beyond the grief, deep within, our soul cries out for help. This is what brings us closer to our authentic, true self where real healing of our hearts can begin.   Death in our lives also helps us to prioritize and teaches us to live our life more fully as it brings to light our own mortality.

So it seems none of us are immune to major change at some point in our life and the part we get to control is how we accept and deal with it. Do we embrace it or do we deny it isn’t happening and hope it will go away and revert back to how it was before when it felt ‘safe’?
Embracing change means acknowledging what is happening and facing our fears.   Once our fears are faced they don’t seem quite as bad.  It is at these points in our lives it is important to utilize out support systems such as family and friends.   If you are lacking in support, perhaps seek out professional assistance.  Also, try to maintain an objective perspective by remembering that there is always a bigger picture that we can’t see and have a bit of faith in the universe.   They say you will only be given the challenges that you are ready to deal with even if you feel incompetent.

Most of all, major change in our lives is a time to be very gentle on ourselves, nurture ourselves, seek out healing and avoid harsh environments and people who aren’t supportive.  We are often sensitized at these times as we process what’s happening.  Also, remember that you are supported by your angels, guides and loved ones in spirit that are only a thought and a prayer away.

What Happens When We Die?

Our true home is in the Spirit World

I held my horse’s head in my arms as the Vet administered the needle to put her down…Lou,  my old mare was such a loving, docile soul and my heart hurt to see her in so much pain…the Vet asked me did I want to go inside while he did it but I said no, I want her to know I am here for her….as the needle went in I stared into her beautiful big brown eyes and then, in one moment, the eyes became vacant…no one lived there anymore, Lou was gone.
It is the only time in my life, way back in 1982, that I ever saw a life leave a living body and it had a profound effect on me.  When life leaves a body, the body has no purpose, no energy.

What is it like in when we die?  I cannot claim to know all the details with unwavering certainty but I can share with you the insights I have received over my many years as a medium.

From what I can gather the actually passing over is well organized with loved ones ready to greet you. When a relative of mine passed away, she sat up with arms outstretched moments before her death as though someone was collecting her. Once the transition has been made, it seems that there is some type of life review.  Your Spirit Guides and wiser souls are there to help you review the life you have just lived to make an assessment of how you did, based on a different perspective to the one we have here and  I assume it is one of complete objectivity.

The goal of the life review if to ascertain whether the soul has developed and learned the lessons that were chosen and mapped out before they were born. Apparently we all have come to expand our awareness as souls and develop higher qualities. For example, perhaps your soul came to learn compassion and independence. Therefore you may have chosen to be born into a family situation that would support those lessons and influence you accordingly.

Certain people will be destined to appear at important times as well as some destined events to also help you learn and develop. The rest of life and it’s challenges it seems that perhaps  we are on our own with our free will, making decisions and creating consequences. Apparently, there will be no one to judge you except yourself at the end., albeit your higher self or wiser self.

One of the hardest things I have seen in my work is the regrets of those who have passed on when they realize the consequences of their actions while they were here. Many people have no idea of the ripple effect of their actions until they have passed over and then, of course,  it is too late.

Often these souls try very hard to make it up to their loved ones left behind.  This can be one of the best things about mediumship, an opportunity to heal for both parties involved. Unfinished business can sometimes be sorted,  leaving closure and a sense of peace for those in Spirit and those left behind.  You can imagine what it would be like to get to the other side, find you are absolutely fine, albeit without the physical body but have no phone to ring home. How frustrating that would be! This is why often in a medium reading you will get people you weren’t particularly close to or perhaps a family member you never even met. It is a great opportunity for them to communicate back here which is rare.

I always think the Spirit World will be something special
I assume decisions are made during the life review of what comes next but I am not sure to be honest what happens then. Whether we choose to come back and try again or perhaps we want to relax in the beauty of the spirit world.  Apparently the Spirit World is beautiful to such a degree that we can’t even imagine it. I have absolutely no doubt that life goes on, I have witnessed so many evidential experiences.  One of my first readings with a medium many years ago floored me. Not only did she reveal specific information about my father who had passed over, she mentioned my mother’s name and recent activities I had been involved in. It was a life changing experience that gave me so much comfort knowing that life goes on. I have no doubt that eventually we are reunited with those we love

.In the meantime it is important we make the most of our time left here on earth, I am sure that is what our loved ones in Spirit would want! I also feel it what our higher selves want. Each moment will never be returned while here, embrace all of it, the good and the bad because each drop of life will expand who we are.

Remember also that not a moment goes by where we are not loved by a higher power....all really is well !

Stuck Between Heaven and Earth

Imagine watching the world move in slow motion from behind a window…you are on the outside looking in. You can’t measure time and you have no idea if a minute or an eon has passed.

You see your loved one walk by outside your window so slow that you can see each detail about them so vividly, the light in their eyes, the way they walk, the movement of their head, their hair rustling, each gesture exaggerated.  You can almost hear their thoughts but not quite.  You try to yell to get their attention, you begin bashing on the window but it is made out of some indestructible substance.  They look in your direction and for a second you are sure they will see you and hope inside you rises, but  then they look straight through you with not an ounce of recognition.  You are shattered, frustrated and cannot understand what is happening.  Something is seriously wrong but perhaps you are dreaming and you will awake soon.  Imagine the relief if someone would just recognise you or at least just talk to you to explain  what is happening.

Being a lost ghost is not much fun.

I have no doubt that the house I grew up in had ghosts.  Perhaps they congregated in the cellar.   My clairvoyant sister Leonie and I would often feel these energies around us but of course had no idea of what they were.

There was a particular child ghost that would come into our dreams  every now and then  and terrify us.  My sister and I were able to match the description of him.  He had blonde hair and vampire looking teeth and a very nasty energy about him.  An awful feeling would linger inside of me for days afterwards and I can still remember the feeling if I choose to even now. It felt like wearing an invisible bubble of fear and terror and left a sickening feeling in the pit of your stomach.

These days I would have known what to do but then we were just children and telling anyone would have been pointless.  Although the house was demolished many years ago, I still visit that house in my dreams frequently although thankfully I don’t dream of him anymore.

Earthbound Spirits are simply that, earth bound.  A person dies and somehow gets lost between here and the Spirit World.

It seems there is a denial or a reluctance to want to move on, despite the loving spirits waiting and willing to assist them on their journey to the other side.  I am sure each case is unique but some of the reasons may be fear, reluctance to separate from a loved one or a much loved home or perhaps because they strongly believe there is no after life they are not allowing themselves to be open to what is.

Earth bound spirits often attach themselves to a location or a person and feed off the energy there.  I don’t think they necessarily mean to.

There are certain mediums that do what is called ‘rescue work’ as a medium can be the perfect mediator between the earth and the spirit realm.  I have done some of this work myself but to be honest it doesn’t appeal to me that much.  One way you can tell if there is an unwanted visitor is a temperature drop in a spot in a room or a thick uncomfortable feeling that isn’t really logical. Then there are the more attention seeking ghosts who will make noises or lightly touch you. Some like to move objects too but that is less common.

My method of removing earth bound spirits has a basic underlying principle.  Raise the vibration.  Souls that are lost are often in a dark and unconscious space, a bit like a dream state and they need to be woken up to the reality of their situation.  There is usually a sense of sadness or low energy that they emanate.  If you can raise the energy around them up through music, candles, meditation, prayer, oil burning etc you shift the energy and it wakes them up from their state of inertia. Once the awareness sets in they are generally co operative and eager to move on to their new life.  It helps to talk aloud to them (even though you feel a bit of dill talking to the air)  as they may not hear you if you just think it.   Tell them they have passed on and that they should look around for their loved ones who are waiting for them shining a light.  I always ask for help from Spirit to take them over.

In a sense they are in a place of darkness through their denial and disillusion. By bringing in light, darkness disappears and they can see the truth and move on.  Darkness can simply not exist in light.  A room is only dark at night until the light is switched on.

I often call on Archangel Michael, the angel of Protection to assist me with earth bound spirits and have had much success.

One evening, I awoke in the middle of the night and sensed an unpleasant energy covering my whole body. In my clairvoyant vision I saw a young male who I instinctively knew had been a drug addict.

At that time, some young party type guys were renting  a house across the road.  I just knew somehow this earthbound spirit had wandered over from there. Quickly in my sleepy state I assessed the situation.  I tried to move and I couldn’t.  I called out inside myself to Archangel Michael, the archangel of protection to remove this presence and nothing happened.  I was now beginning to feel a little fear rising within me which quickly turned to anger and I then yelled or more hissed ‘ARCHANGEL MICHAEL, DO SOMETHING!’  Instantly it left and I could move again.  I took a deep breath, sent a thank you to Michael and a prayer to the lost soul that they may find their way.

If prayer doesn’t appeal to you there are other ways you can deal with earth bound spirits.  I use prayer and angels because it’s simple and it only requires a sincere request or a holler!

You can always get a ‘ghost buster’ to help you which will usually be in the form of a medium or perhaps a priest.  However, most normal earth bound Spirits can be dealt with by anyone if you understand a few basic facts.

Fear is the biggest no no. The cheeky earth bound Spirits, like the little blonde boy we had as children love it when you get scared.  You are technically bringing your energy down to their level where they can give you even more of a hard time.

They quickly become bored if you won’t play the fear game.  Let them know they have been caught out.  Be firm with them, tell them you are not going to tolerate their behaviour and they must move on.  Be like a parent with a child, firm, clear and caring. This will give you the best results.

Once they are gone you may need to give your home energy cleanse and make over. I use salt.  Any salt will do but I prefer sea salt of Himalayan salt.  Put some in bowls of water in corners of rooms and it will absorb negative energy.  You can even place salt right around the perimeter of your home.  Visualise an angel at each entrance of your house and land or see them holding hands in a circle around the whole house.  Having a salt bath will remove any negative energy you have absorbed in your energy field.  Burning sandalwood incense, burning lavender or eucalyptus oils are also cleansing.  Burning sage sticks does the trick as well.  Send a healing thought to the soul for a smooth transition to their new life in Spirit.

We will all end up there in the Spirit World one day and it would be nice to know someone was sending us a good thought.

My Secret Dream

With the recent footy finals all around and seeing such huge audiences attending live events so full of vigour and enthusiasm, I found myself with conflicting feelings.  Part of me is happy that in this high pressured earthly world of survival that these people on my television look so happy and high about supporting their teams.  Relief from the madness and pressures of life and obviously feeling a passion for their sport....but...it also brings up for me, a dream I have of miracle cures....let me run my dream by you...

Imagine a stadium housing an audience of hundred thousand people, all feeling positive, high and excited.....instead of football players entering the field...a cancer patient is wheeled out....all one hundred thousand people close their eyes and imagine this cancer patient, healthy, carefree, happy and well...each of these one hundred thousand people open their healing hands and project healing to the cancer patient. There is a peace, a harmony, and a sound in the silence of intention.

The cancer patient perhaps can only take a minute of this powerful healing and maybe it heals them and maybe it doesn't. If someone is meant to pass over, I guess their time is up.  However, imagine  the other potential outcome...they rise from their chair....completely cancer free....or a child who was unable to walk, or someone who was blind could see, anyone in physical pain has an opportunity to be free.

Us humans are so much more powerful than we know.

You may say I am a dreamer, but I know you are too, let's dream as big as we can because it seems that now thoughts and dreams manifest quicker than ever before.

Anyone got a stadium and a hundred thousand people to experiment?

Coffee Grief

I have always reacted when I have heard health freaks praise the benefits of being caffeine free and dairy free, something just so squeaky clean about the whole idea. Life is for living after all I have always reasoned, surely a few innocent luxuries should not be denied. The thought of drinking herbal tea instead seemed so dreary, so boring, no excitement, what so ever.

I have often heard of really health conscious people getting chronic illnesses....I have always believed health is not just about the body, it is about the emotions, the spirit and it's dis-ease or ease.
So last week when I got really ill with a stomach bug and could not tolerate coffee or dairy I had to re evaluate my past judgements. In fact I had to admit the last few months that coffee and dairy did seem to cause me some indigestion....I went to the doctor and she said  'well, considering your age, it it advisable we test for chronic diseases'  I was slightly horrified, what does she mean, my age? Okay I am about to turn 52, but I feel 25, isn't 52 the new 42? What's her problem?

Yet the body has been speaking to me and it is my choice whether I choose to listen or not.

There is a house I walk by in my lovely morning walks with my dog and  a sweet looking girl, maybe in her 40's, sits on the front step of her house having her morning cigarette and cuppa. She always says hello between coughs. I always think, 'her body is trying to tell her it doesn't like the smoke but she is not listening'. Having been a smoker in the past, I pass no judgement, I know how tobacco seduces.  But it is a fact, our bodies are often telling us messages but we don't want hear.  Then sometimes we are forced to hear, like with me this last week.

The silver lining is that I found a huge difference in my clarity and state of calm.  I have heard others say how no dairy brings clarity and I know I feel less nervy from no coffee.  As we age, we know ourselves better, we know what works and what doesn't for us on so many levels.

I have learned and been reminded again this week to listen to the whispers of my body and my intuition...the dairy I am not so sentimental about and I feel happy to let you go, but coffee, I grieve for you, I will always admire you and thank you for all the good times.
'

My lover every morning for so many years
Your scent on my lips, your warmth flowing through me
Your strength when I felt weak
Your comfort I embraced
When I was deflated you gave me courage to keep moving

and now, you are gone, my body rejected you
my nervous system too sensitive
but I will always remember you
as my morning lover

Here's to  tea, cacao and  red wine!
